Identity and sign-in
Sign-in methods and passwords
You can sign in to Autessa with Google, Microsoft or Apple, with a one-time code emailed to you, or with a password. Passwords must be at least 12 characters with an upper-case letter, a lower-case letter, a number and a special character, and changing your password signs you out on every other device.
The problem
What problem does it solve?
People sign in from work laptops, phones and the desktop app. Weak passwords and sessions left open on old devices are the easiest way in, so sign-in has to be both convenient and strict.
How it works
- 1
Choose how to sign in
Continue with Google, Microsoft or Apple, or enter your email and choose Email me a code or Sign in with a password instead.
- 2
Confirm with a code if needed
An emailed sign-in code expires in 10 minutes. New accounts confirm their email address before use.
- 3
Add a second step
If you turned on two-step verification, Autessa asks for your authenticator or email code next.
- 4
Change your password safely
In Password & sign-in, enter your current password or a code sent to your email, then the new one. Other devices are signed out.
Every option
Sign-in methods and passwords: settings and options
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Google, Microsoft, Apple | Sign in with an existing account at those providers. |
| Email code | A one-time code sent to your address, valid for 10 minutes. |
| Password rules | At least 12 characters, with upper case, lower case, a number and a special character. |
| Managed by your organization | When your company requires SSO, your page says which provider you sign in with. |
Permissions
Who can do what?
| Who | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Every member | Choose their own sign-in methods and change their password. |
| Company admins | Require SSO for verified domains, which replaces the other methods for those addresses. |
What to know
- Many sign-in attempts in a row are slowed down, and the page says to try again later.
- Deleting your account is a separate, confirmed step on its own page.
