Autessa AI Agent Firewall
The AI agent firewall for the attacks that fool people and AI.
Autessa AI Agent Firewall is an AI application firewall that inspects every turn of every agent conversation, in chat, text, phone calls and your own apps through an API. It stops prompt injection and data exfiltration before a sensitive tool runs, flags cloned voices and social-engineering pressure, and can make the person prove who they are first. It works out of the box on every Autessa agent, and you tune it to how your company works.

Why agents need a firewall
An agent that can read payroll or change a bank account is worth attacking.
Classic security protects the network and the login. The new attacks walk straight through both, by talking to your AI the way a con artist talks to a person.
A cloned voice
Someone calls your support line sounding exactly like your CFO and asks for this month’s payroll file.
Impersonation by chat or text
Someone claims to be a manager, says it’s urgent, and asks the agent to skip the usual checks.
A stolen login or leaked API key
The requests look legitimate, but nothing like them has come from this person before.
Slow data theft
One customer record, then another, then fifty more, spread across conversations.
Prompt injection
A document or web page a tool reads tells the agent to send your data somewhere it shouldn’t.
How it works
Five checkpoints in every turn.
The firewall sits between the person, the model and your tools. At each checkpoint it runs the checks you turned on and returns one decision. The strongest action wins.
USER_INPUT
The message
What the person says or types, before the model reads it. Prompt injection, pressure tactics, unusual requests and your rules.
TOOL_CALL
Each tool call
Before a tool runs. Allowed tools and sites, verification, approval, secrets and personal data leaving, loops.
TOOL_RESULT
Each tool result
After a tool returns, before the model reads it. Injection hidden in documents and pages, sensitive-record counts, rows read.
FINAL_RESPONSE
The reply
Before the answer is shown or spoken. Secrets in the reply are blocked.
VOICE
The caller’s voice
Each thing a caller says. A synthetic-voice score, the watermark, and the caller ID result.
Five actions, from a note to a hard stop
Every check has an action. Flag records it; ask to verify pauses until the person proves who they are; require approval holds the tool call for an admin; block stops it and the agent politely says it can’t help with that.
How Monitor and Enforce work →When several checks fire on one turn, the strongest action wins.
What makes it different
Built for the con, not just the prompt.
Prompt filters stop bad text. Autessa also proves who is on the line, notices when someone is being coerced, and limits how much any one person can take.
Unique · Verification
A word of the day only your team knows
A short, common word changes every midnight in your time zone and shows only to the members you choose, on their home page and in the Autessa mobile app. On a call, the agent asks for it inside a random phrase, “river, today’s word, seven”, and the voice check must hear a live voice. A recording of yesterday’s answer can’t pass.
- One word for the company or one per agent
- Every view of the word is logged
- Rotate every word instantly if one leaks
- Never accepted by text message
Unique · Silent alarm
A duress word for the employee who is being coerced
A member being forced to call in says the duress word instead. The agent responds exactly as if they verified, so the person applying pressure can’t tell. Every sensitive tool quietly says it’s unavailable, nothing sensitive is shared for the rest of the conversation, and your admins get an urgent alert with a link to the live call.
Unique · Voice
Voice deepfake detection on every utterance
Each thing a caller says gets a score from 0 to 1 for how likely it is to be computer-made, labeled Real, Synthetic or Unsure. The check runs alongside the call and never slows the agent down. While someone is verifying, the bar gets stricter. No voiceprint is ever built or stored.
- Works on phone calls and in voice chat
- Scores show in call details and to the agent
- Inaudible watermark exposes replayed agent audio
- STIR/SHAKEN caller ID result on every inbound call
Unique · Tool authorization
Verify before use, on any tool
Mark a tool as sensitive and the agent pauses to ask for proof before it runs. List one method or chain several. The answer goes straight to the check: the model never sees it, and it never lands in logs or transcripts.
Unique · Data loss prevention
Sensitive-record limits that you define
Cap how many sensitive records one person can get, per conversation and per rolling 24 hours. Nothing is guessed by AI: a record counts only when your team marked the tool or the AutessaDB table as sensitive. Starting a new chat doesn’t reset the daily count.
Unique · Red team
An attack simulator that never touches production
Run a built-in set of attacks against any agent or API policy: prompt injection, pressure and impersonation, passphrase guessing, a replayed word of the day, requests that don’t fit a person’s history, over-limit data pulls and prerecorded cloned voices. Tools never really run, so nothing is sent, changed or charged.
Everything in the firewall
Every check, every control, one firewall.
Each capability has its own page with how it works, its settings, and what to know before you turn it on.
Verification and identity →
Before a sensitive tool runs, the person proves who they are with a daily word, a passphrase, an authenticator code or a phone approval, and a duress word raises a silent alarm.
Voice and caller security →
Every caller utterance is scored for synthetic speech, every inbound number is checked against the carrier’s caller ID result, and agent voices carry a watermark that exposes replays.
Threat detection →
The firewall flags prompt injection in messages and tool results, learns each person’s normal requests to spot anomalies, and reviews conversations for pressure tactics.
Data protection →
Cap the sensitive records anyone can extract, allowlist the tools and sites an agent may use, and block secrets or personal data from leaving.
Policy and operations →
Start in Monitor, write rules and exceptions you can preview against real traffic, approve held requests, watch the dashboard and red-team agents with the simulator.
Developers →
Your own chat, agent and voice applications call one REST API for every phase of a turn and get back an action, reasons and findings.
Run it like a security team
Rules you can preview. Alerts you can act on.
Shape the firewall the way you’d configure a network firewall, see exactly what changed against the last 7 days of real traffic, and watch every agent from one dashboard.
For developers
The same firewall for apps that don’t run on Autessa.
Send each phase of each turn of your own chat, agent or voice app to one endpoint. Get back what to do, why, and a challenge to show the user when they need to verify. Named policies keep separate settings for each application.
No voiceprints
The voice check keeps a score per utterance, never a profile of anyone’s voice.
Answers stay hidden
Words, passphrases and codes never reach the model, logs or transcripts.
30-day retention
Alerts, scores and verification records are deleted after 30 days.
Counts, not copies
Unusual-request history keeps counts and summaries per person, not messages.
FAQ
Questions security teams ask
What is an AI agent firewall?
An AI agent firewall checks what an AI agent is told, what it tries to do and what it says, and stops the turns that are unsafe. Autessa AI Agent Firewall inspects the user’s message, every tool call, every tool result, the final reply and the caller’s voice, and can flag, ask the person to verify, hold for an admin’s approval or block.
Does the AI Agent Firewall work out of the box?
Yes. Turn it on and every Autessa agent is covered by the company policy, starting in Monitor so you can see what it catches before anything is blocked. Then shape it to how your company works: per-agent policies, your own rules and exceptions, which tools need verification, who sees the word of the day and who gets alerts.
Does Autessa protect AI agents against prompt injection?
Yes. The firewall scores user messages and tool results for prompt injection. A flagged injection also makes every later tool call in the same run that sends data to another site wait for approval, which is how indirect prompt injection usually tries to exfiltrate data.
Can Autessa detect a cloned or AI-generated voice on a phone call?
Yes. Every caller utterance longer than about a second is scored from 0 to 1 for how likely it is to be synthetic, labeled Real, Synthetic or Unsure. At 0.5 or above your chosen action applies. The score is a signal, not proof, so pair it with verification for anything sensitive.
What is a word of the day and why would an AI agent ask for it?
It is a short word that changes every midnight and is visible only to your team, in the web app and the mobile app. Before a sensitive tool runs, a voice agent asks the caller to say a three-word phrase with today’s word in the middle, so someone replaying a recording or guessing cannot pass.
What happens when someone uses the duress word?
The agent responds exactly as if verification passed, so the person applying pressure cannot tell. Behind the scenes every tool that needs verification quietly answers that it is unavailable, no sensitive records are shared for the rest of the conversation, and admins and any named contacts get an urgent alert.
Does the AI model ever see verification answers?
No. The word, passphrase or code goes straight to the check. In the conversation history it is replaced with “[verification answer hidden]” and never reaches the model, your logs or stored transcripts. On calls, authenticator codes are typed on the keypad so the AI never hears them.
Can I use the firewall with my own LLM app, not built on Autessa?
Yes. The AI Application Firewall API takes each turn of your own conversation, at the user message, tool call, tool result, reply or voice phase, and returns ALLOW, FLAG, CHALLENGE, REQUIRE_APPROVAL, BLOCK or DURESS with reasons. Named policies keep different settings per application.
Will turning on the firewall break my agents?
No. New policies start in Monitor, which records what each check would do without changing anything your customers see. Read the alerts and dashboard for a week or two, tune the thresholds, then switch to Enforce. The attack simulator lets you test before real traffic.
Does Autessa store voiceprints?
No. The voice check scores each utterance and keeps only the score. It never builds or stores a profile of anyone’s voice. Alerts, scores and verification records are deleted after 30 days, and unusual-request history is kept as counts and summaries, not copies of messages.
How is the AI Agent Firewall priced?
It is charged per check that actually runs, at the same price for Autessa agents and the API. A check that is on but does not apply, such as the caller ID check in a chat, costs nothing. Talk to us for pricing on your plan.
Put a firewall in front of every agent.
It works out of the box: turn it on in Monitor, read what it would have caught on your real traffic, shape the rules to your company, then enforce. Your customers notice nothing until you decide they should.
Starts in Monitor · nothing changes for your customers until you enforce
