Pressure-tactics check

The pressure-tactics check is social-engineering detection for AI agents: before a sensitive tool runs, an AI review reads the recent conversation for urgency, impersonation, requests to skip checks, gift cards, payment or bank changes and secrecy, and quotes the exact words in the alert.

The problem

Social engineering works by pressure: rush, authority and secrecy. People learn to spot it in training; AI agents need the same instinct.

How pressure-tactics check works

STEP 1

Wait for a moment that matters

To keep cost down it doesn’t run every turn, only when a sensitive tool is about to run or the person may need to verify.

STEP 2

Review the conversation

An AI review looks for the signs: “this has to happen in ten minutes”, claiming to be an executive or IT, skip verification, gift cards, new bank details, keep it secret.

STEP 3

Quote and act

The alert quotes the words that raised it. The action can be Flag, Ask to verify, or Require approval.
