What is Autessa Drive?
Autessa Drive is a company shared drive and file sharing software built into Autessa. Each drive holds real folders and files with version history and a trash. Word documents, spreadsheets, slide decks and Markdown open and edit in the browser; PDFs, images, video and ZIP archives preview without downloading. Every file’s text is extracted, with OCR for scans, so search can point at the exact page and line.
Sharing works in two levels: drive members, then folders and files as Viewer, Commenter or Editor. AI agents use the same rules. Bind a drive to an agent and it gets narrow tools to search, grep, read and cite, and, when you allow it, to write files that become versions you can undo.

Most file storage treats AI as a chat box on top. In Autessa Drive, agents work with the same folders, permissions, versions and page-and-line text that people do, so their answers can be checked and their changes undone.
Word documents
Autessa Drive edits .docx files in the browser as real pages, with styles, tables, pictures and track changes, and saves them back without disturbing anything you did not edit.
Spreadsheets
Autessa Drive edits Excel and CSV files in the browser with formulas that recalculate as you type, and keeps formatting, charts and validations when it saves.
ZIP archive browser
Autessa Drive opens ZIP archives up to 50 MB in the browser, so you can browse, search, preview and download one file inside without unpacking anything.
Anchored comments
Autessa Drive comments point at exactly what they mean, a sentence, a PDF page, a cell range or a slide, and move with that text when a new version is saved.
Drive members
Autessa Drive separates joining a drive from seeing what is in it: members see the drive, and only the folders and files shared with them.
Access-aware moves
Autessa Drive shows who will gain and who will lose access before you move a file or folder, so reorganizing never silently over-shares.
Exact text search
Autessa Drive finds every exact occurrence of a phrase, clause number or ID across the drive and lists each one by file, page and line, like grep for documents.
Text extraction and OCR
Autessa Drive extracts the text of every upload page by page, reads scanned PDFs and images with OCR, and shows a status dot on each file so you know when it is searchable.
Drive tools for agents
Autessa Drive gives AI agents a full set of narrow file tools, from ls and grep to read and edit, that only reach files the acting person can open.
Cited answers
Autessa Drive agents cite every answer to the file, page and line it came from, such as /Contracts/acme-msa.pdf p.4 L.12, so anyone can check the source in one click.
Agent memory files
Autessa Drive lets an agent keep a memory file, appending what it learns and editing facts exactly, with every change saved as a version you can read and undo.
Folder scope and acting identity
Autessa Drive confines an agent to one folder when you set a folder scope, and otherwise lets it see exactly what the person it acts for can see, never more.
Triggers, apps and automations
Autessa Drive is also a file intake for automation: triggers fire on every new or changed file, and apps, scripts and Redact write into the same folders people browse.
Network drive (no install)
Autessa Drive connects as a network drive at dav.autessa.com with an app password, so any computer can open and save Drive files without installing software.
