Drive members

Autessa Drive separates joining a drive from seeing what is in it. Adding people, teams or Anyone at your company as drive members puts the drive in their list and, for Editor members, lets them add their own items at the top level, but members see a folder or file only once it is shared with them.

Shared drives over-share by default

In many tools, adding someone to a shared drive opens everything in it. One forgotten HR folder later, you are cleaning up access by hand. Making membership and access separate decisions keeps sensitive folders private while the drive is open to the team.

README · what you get
  • A new drive is empty and private: only its creator and drive admins can see it.
  • Share the drive itself from the Share button in the drive header to add members as Viewer or Editor.
  • Members can be people, teams (including people who join the team later) or Anyone at your company.
  • Members see the drive in their list but no folder or file in it until that item is shared with them.
  • Editor members can add folders and files at the top level; they own what they add and nobody else sees it until they share it.
  • A member with nothing shared yet sees “You’re a member of this drive. Folders and files appear here once they’re shared with you.”
  • Use Share with drive members on a folder to give every current member access in one step.

AI agents

How AI agents use it

Because membership never reveals files, an agent acting for a member sees only the folders that member was given. Adding a new hire to the drive does not quietly let an agent read the board folder on their behalf.

Agents only reach files the person they act for can open, and every agent write is a version you can undo.

Questions about drive members

If I add someone to a drive, can they see every file?

No. Drive members see the drive in their list, but only the folders and files shared with them (and anything they add themselves).

How do I give the whole team a shared folder?

Add the team as drive members, then open the folder’s Share dialog and use Share with drive members. Each current member gets their own share on the folder.

Do new members automatically get folders shared with members?

No. Share with drive members gives each current member a share. Share the folder with new members, or use Share with drive members again. Sharing with a team does cover people who join that team later.
