Access-aware moves

Autessa Drive warns you before a move changes who can see something. Because access follows folders, moving an item into a shared folder gives it that folder’s access and moving it out removes it, so the explorer first shows exactly who will gain and who will lose access, and the CLI and API require a confirmation.

Drag a folder, leak a folder

In folder-inherited systems, a single drag can quietly expose salary data to the whole company or cut a client off from their files. Reorganizing should never be a security incident.

README · what you get
  • Moving into a shared folder gives the item that folder’s access.
  • Moving out of a shared folder removes the access it inherited from there.
  • Shares made directly on the item travel with it.
  • Before a move that would change access, a confirmation lists who will gain and who will lose access.
  • Moving requires Editor on the item and Editor on the destination folder.
  • A folder containing items you cannot see cannot be moved by you; ask an owner or drive manager.
  • From the CLI and API, a move that changes access returns the gain and loss list and moves nothing until you confirm.

AI agents

How AI agents use it

Agents that reorganize files get the same safeguard: a drive_move that would change access answers with who would gain and lose it, and nothing moves until the call is repeated with confirm.

Agents only reach files the person they act for can open, and every agent write is a version you can undo.

Questions about access-aware moves

Does moving a file change who can see it?

It can. Moving into a shared folder gives the file that folder’s access, and moving out removes inherited access. Shares made directly on the file travel with it.

Will Drive warn me before a move changes access?

Yes. Before any move that would change access, the explorer lists who will gain and who will lose access, and you confirm or cancel.

Why can’t I move this folder?

Moving needs Editor on the item and the destination, and you cannot move a folder that contains items you cannot see. Ask the owner or a drive manager.
