AI Agents That Read and Cite Company Documents

Autessa Drive gives AI agents the same view of your files a person has: narrow tools to browse, search and read, citations to the page and line, and writes that become versions you can undo.

What is in AI agents on your files?

Give agents permission-aware tools to browse, grep, search, read and cite your files, keep memory files, and stay inside one folder. Each feature has its own page with how it works, every option, who can do what and FAQs.

How Autessa Drive handles AI agents on your files

Drive tools for agents →

  • Every file operation an agent needs: ls, tree, find, stat, grep, read, search, fetch, write, edit, mkdir, move and trash.
  • An agent bound to a drive receives them as drive_ls, drive_grep, drive_read and so on, with guidance to search for topics, grep for exact strings and read before quoting.
  • A single Drive tool can be configured for one operation, with arguments the agent fills at run time.

Cited answers →

  • Results come back with locators like path p.N L.M.
  • Agents read the page or line range before quoting it, instead of paraphrasing a search snippet.
  • grep output includes the file version, so a citation names exactly what was read.

Agent memory files →

  • The agent creates the file in a folder of its own; writing a file creates any missing folders on the way.
  • Appending never overwrites, and two runs can append at the same time.
  • Exact edits replace a specific line, and fail safely with EDIT_NO_MATCH or EDIT_AMBIGUOUS if the text is not found once.

Folder scope and acting identity →

  • Set rootPath (folder scope), such as /Legal, on a Drive tool.
  • Every path the agent sends is resolved inside the scope.
  • Nothing outside the scope is visible, even if the acting identity could see more.

Triggers, apps and automations →

  • Table triggers fire on new and changed files and can run a script or an agent.
  • Add custom columns such as status or client_id and use them in triggers.
  • Custom apps built on Autessa can upload into drive folders.

Questions about AI agents on your files

Can an AI agent read files in Autessa Drive?

Yes. Bind a drive to the agent or create a Drive tool, and it can list, find, grep, search, read and fetch files, only those its acting person can open.

Do Autessa Drive agents cite their sources?

Yes. Agents cite answers as path, page and line, for example /Contracts/acme-msa.pdf p.4 L.12, after reading that page.

Can an AI agent remember things between conversations?

Yes, with a memory file in Drive. The agent reads it at the start, appends what it learns and edits facts that change, and every change is a version you can review.

Can I limit an AI agent to one folder?

Yes. Set a folder scope on its Drive tool and every path resolves inside that folder; nothing outside it is visible.

Can I run an automation when a file is uploaded?

Yes. Add a table trigger on the drive, and it fires on every new or changed file.
