Network drive (no install)

Autessa Drive connects as a network drive without installing anything: in Finder choose Connect to Server, or in File Explorer choose Map network drive, enter https://dav.autessa.com, and sign in with your email and an app password. Drive then appears under Locations or This PC, and every file follows its normal sharing.

Some computers can’t install software

Shared workstations, locked-down laptops and contractors’ machines often can’t run a sync client. A standard network drive works with what is already on the computer.

README · what you get
  • Connects over WebDAV at https://dav.autessa.com from Finder (Command-K) or File Explorer (Map network drive).
  • Sign in with your email and an app password, never your Autessa password.
  • Create one app password per computer, named such as Work laptop; up to 20 at a time.
  • An app password is shown once, works only for the company you created it in, and only for connecting Drive.
  • Connected devices shows Last used and Last used from for each app password; Remove disconnects that computer right away.
  • Office locks a file while it is open, like a company file server, so a second person opens it read-only.
  • Windows opens files up to 50 MB from a network drive by default; IT can raise the limit up to 4 GB with a registry value.

Questions about network drive (no install)

Can I map Autessa Drive as a network drive?

Yes. Connect to https://dav.autessa.com from Finder or File Explorer with your email and an app password. Nothing needs to be installed.

Why does the network drive keep asking for my password?

Use your email and an app password, not your Autessa password. If it worked before, the app password may have been removed; create a new one under Connected devices.

Why won’t a big file open on Windows?

Windows opens files up to 50 MB from a network drive by default. Use the Autessa app, or have IT raise FileSizeLimitInBytes, up to 4 GB.
