IT admin controls

Autessa Drive gives IT control over Drive on computers. Two company settings decide whether people can connect Drive as a network drive and whether Drive runs in the Autessa desktop app, and a DisableDriveIntegration device policy, set by Group Policy on Windows or a configuration profile on Mac, keeps Drive off specific computers.

IT needs a say in where files land

Some teams must not keep company files on personal or shared machines. Admins need simple switches and device policies, without changing anyone’s file permissions.

README · what you get
  • Company Settings, Drive on computers: Allow connecting Drive as a network drive.
  • Company Settings, Drive on computers: Allow Drive in the Autessa desktop app.
  • Turning off network drives stops every app password right away and prevents new ones.
  • Turning off the desktop app removes Autessa Drive from members’ computers; their files stay in Autessa.
  • Both are on by default, and neither changes who can see what.
  • Windows: enable Turn off Autessa Drive in File Explorer in the Autessa ADMX template, writing DisableDriveIntegration = 1 under SOFTWARE\Policies\Autessa\Desktop.
  • Mac: a profile with payload type com.autessa.desktop sets DisableDriveIntegration to true.
  • The policy removes Autessa Drive and its downloaded copies if it was already there, while the rest of the app keeps working.

Questions about IT admin controls

Can admins block Drive on personal computers?

Yes. Company admins can turn off network drives and Drive in the desktop app, and IT can set the DisableDriveIntegration policy on specific computers.

Does turning these off change file permissions?

No. Every file still follows Drive sharing. The settings only control whether Drive can appear on computers.

Is there a Group Policy template?

Yes. The Autessa ADMX template has Turn off Autessa Drive in File Explorer, which sets DisableDriveIntegration.
