Ranked search can’t prove a clause is everywhere

When legal asks which contracts reference “Section 4.2”, or ops needs every file mentioning a part number, “most relevant” is not enough. You need every match, with where it sits.

README · what you get
  • Find a specific string, clause number or ID across the drive or one folder.
  • Optionally Match case.
  • Each match is listed by file, page and line, with the matching text highlighted.
  • Text, code, CSV, JSON and Markdown keep their real line numbers; PDFs and Office files point at a page and a line on that page.
  • Agents and the API can also use regular expressions, case-insensitive matching, a file pattern and surrounding context lines.
  • From the CLI, autessa drive grep prints path:page:line: text for each match.

AI agents

How AI agents use it

Agents use grep for exact strings and search for topics, then read the page or lines before quoting. A grep hit like /Contracts/acme-msa.pdf (v2) p4:L12 is what the agent cites.

Agents only reach files the person they act for can open, and every agent write is a version you can undo.

Questions about exact text search

Can I search for an exact phrase across all documents?

Yes. Switch the search box to Exact text, optionally turn on Match case, and Drive lists every match by file, page and line.

Does it work on PDFs?

Yes. PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets and presentations are extracted page by page, so matches point at a page and a line on that page.

Can I use regular expressions?

Yes, from agent tools, the CLI and the API, which accept a regex pattern, case-insensitive matching, a file pattern and context lines.
