Word of the day
The word of the day is a short, common word that changes every midnight and is visible only to the members you choose. Before a sensitive tool runs, a voice agent asks the caller to say it inside a random three-word phrase, so a recording or a guess cannot pass.
The problem
Callers who claim to be staff are hard to verify. Security questions leak, caller ID can be spoofed, and a cloned voice sounds exactly right. Teams need a shared secret that changes every day and can’t be replayed.
How word of the day works
Turn it on and choose who sees it
On the Settings page, turn on Word of the day, choose which roles can see it, and choose one word for the company or one per agent.
Your team sees today’s word
It appears on the Today’s word card on the home page and on the Me tab of the Autessa mobile app. Each view is recorded on the alerts page.
The agent asks for it
On a call: “Please say: river, today’s word, seven.” All three words must be said in order, and the voice check must hear a live voice. In chat, the person types it.
Rotate any time
Rotate words changes every word, including the duress word, immediately, if you think one was overheard or shared.

The AI agent
Ask for it, but is never told what it is.
What to know
- Nobody outside your company can see the word, and the agent never learns it: the answer goes straight to the check.
- It isn’t accepted by text message, because anyone holding the phone can read texts.
- The random words around it change every time, so a recording of an earlier answer fails.
- Developers can fetch it through the API with a key that has the Word of the day permission, to show it in your own staff app.

FAQ
Word of the day: questions
What is a word of the day in security?
It is a shared secret that changes every day. Staff use it to prove they work for you when they call or chat with an agent. Autessa generates, shows, checks and rotates it for you.
Can a recording of someone saying the word pass?
No. On a call the word is asked for inside a random three-word phrase that changes every time, and the voice check must find the answer to be a live voice.
Can I have a different word for each agent?
Yes. Choose one word for the company or one per agent on the Settings page.
What happens at midnight during a call?
Yesterday’s word keeps working for a short grace period, 60 minutes by default, so calls that began before midnight aren’t interrupted.
