Your model and PII stripping

Autessa Synthetic Data runs on your company default model and follows your company privacy settings. Use Autessa built-in models or a model from your own provider connection, and turn on PII and PHI stripping so personal details are replaced before prompts reach the model.

The problem

Your data rules should apply to test data too

Synthetic data prompts can include descriptions of your business and example rows. Teams with model or privacy policies need the generator to follow the same rules as everything else.

What you get

  • Generation uses the company default model; there is no separate picker to manage.
  • The default is Autessa built-in models; admins can choose a model from one of your provider connections instead.
  • With your own connection, your provider bills those tokens directly.
  • Company-wide PII and PHI stripping applies to synthetic data prompts.
  • Descriptions, sample rows, staged rows and the variety ledger are encrypted with your company key.
  • Generation does not read or learn from the rows already in your tables.

FAQ

Questions about your model and PII stripping

How much personal data does stripping remove?

Stripping removes the personal details it detects before any prompt reaches the model, which greatly reduces what a model sees. For regulated data, test it with realistic examples in your own formats.

Which model does synthetic data use?

Your company default model, the same one behind other background features such as sandbox and automated evaluations, so one setting keeps them all consistent.

Does Synthetic Data learn from my real records?

No. It generates every row from your description and columns, so there are no real records behind the data to leak.
