Roles and team
Autessa Accounting has roles that add up: Bookkeeper, Accountant, Controller and Admin, each seeing everything the one before can, plus more. Roles decide which screens and actions each teammate sees; gated actions are hidden rather than shown disabled, and the append-only activity log records what everyone does.
The problem
Everyone sees everything, or nobody can help
A bookkeeper should not be closing months and an employee should not be scrolling the ledger, but both need to do their part. Additive roles give each person a focused set of screens, with the activity log as the permanent record.

- Bookkeeper: plus upload statements, transactions, the review inbox, receipts, categories and rules.
- Accountant: plus posting, the ledger, journal entries, reconciling, bills, invoices, products and projects.
- Controller: plus departments, budgets, guardrails, cards and card requests, and paying bills from Mercury.
- Admin: plus closing months, the Mercury connection and the team.
- Teammates sign in with their Autessa account; Accounting recognizes them by email.
- Deactivate a teammate to remove their role; changes are recorded in the activity log.
- The Mercury tools are shared only with Controllers and Admins.
