Turn a doc into a workflow
Autodocs turns a written how-to into automation: Create workflow makes each numbered step an instruction the browser’s AI carries out, starting at the first address in the doc.
THE PROBLEM
Your best process docs were written by hand
Years of SOPs exist as text. Re-recording them all is a project. Autodocs can turn written numbered steps straight into a browser workflow.
Create workflow turns a doc’s numbered steps into a browser workflow. It opens the first address the doc mentions, then the browser’s AI does each step.
How it works
How does turn a doc into a workflow work in Autodocs?
- 1
Open a doc and press Create workflow
Works on any doc: one an Autobot wrote, one you edited, one whose recording was deleted.
- 2
Autodocs reads its steps
Numbered step headings (“### 2. Click Save”) and numbered lines under a heading about steps. Other numbered lists are treated as content, not steps.
- 3
It builds the workflow
It opens the first web address the doc mentions, then each step becomes an instruction the browser’s AI carries out.
- 4
Replay it
The new workflow appears under Workflows, ready to run, and the doc names it, so its runs refresh the doc’s pictures.
Options and settings
Every option, in one table
| Case | What happens |
|---|---|
| Doc with no workflow | The new workflow becomes the doc’s workflow. |
| Doc that keeps its recording | Autodocs asks first, then makes a second workflow from the text beside the original. |
| Name | Made unique among your workflows, never replacing one. |
| CLI | `autessa autodocs create-workflow --folder …`. |
Who can do what

| The person who recorded a workflow | Sees its steps, renames it, replays it and deletes it. Workflows are personal. |

Where AI helps
Each written step is carried out by the browser’s AI from its instruction, which makes text-based workflows self-healing by nature.

FAQ
Turn a doc into a workflow: questions
Can I turn an existing written SOP into automation?
Yes. Put its numbered steps in an Autodocs doc and press Create workflow; it opens the first address in the doc and the browser’s AI carries out each step.
Which lists count as steps?
Numbered step headings, and numbered lines under a heading about steps, such as “Steps” or “How to …”. Other numbered lists are treated as content.
Will it overwrite my recorded workflow?
No. A doc that still has its recorded workflow keeps it; Autodocs asks before adding a second workflow made from the text.
Try turn a doc into a workflow on a task you do every week.
Record it once in Autodocs. You get the guide for your team and the workflow for next time.
