How-to guides
Drafts and knowledge base publishing
Autodocs guides stay drafts until you publish; publishing moves them into the knowledge base, where Drive search and chatbots that use it find them.
THE PROBLEM
A guide nobody can find doesn’t help anyone
Good documentation dies in personal folders. Autodocs gives every guide one place to live and one clear step to make it official.
Every guide starts as a draft. Publish moves it into the Autodocs knowledge base in Drive, where Drive search and your company chatbots can find it.
How it works
How does drafts and knowledge base publishing work in Autodocs?
- 1
Every guide starts as a draft
In Autodocs › Drafts in Drive, marked Draft in the docs list.
- 2
Press Publish
The guide moves into Autodocs › Knowledge base in Drive and is marked Published.
- 3
People find it
Drive search finds it, and so does any chatbot that uses the Autodocs Drive.
- 4
Open in Drive
Every doc has an Open in Drive link to its folder.
Options and settings
Every option, in one table
| State | Where it lives |
|---|---|
| Draft | Autodocs › Drafts in the company Autodocs Drive. |
| Published | Autodocs › Knowledge base, found by Drive search and chatbots using that Drive. |
| Delete | Moves the doc to the Drive trash. |
| Fallback | If the company cannot add a new Drive, docs live in an /Autodocs folder of a Drive you already use. |
Who can do what
Permissions
| Who | Can |
|---|---|
| People whose role can use agents | Open Autodocs, record workflows, write, edit and publish docs. |
| Anyone with access to the Autodocs Drive | Reads the docs there through Drive, Drive search and chatbots that use that Drive. |
AI assist
Where AI helps
AI is used where it saves you work and is always visible: it writes the guide from your recording, and it finds elements that moved during a replay, marking those steps healed. You stay in charge of what gets published.
