Privacy built into every screen
Server-enforced access
Every read and write is decided on the server by role and reporting line. The app only uses your access to choose what to show; the data a page receives is already filtered. The same rules apply to search and the assistant.
Roles that match how HR works
HR administrators hold every HR role. HR partners are scoped to the departments listed for them. Executives and knowledge authors have their own access. Managers are derived from the reporting line, and every person is an employee.
Privacy switches
HR chooses whether managers see the pay of people below them, whether executives see everyone’s pay, whether executives read every review and promotion case, and whether people update their own personal and emergency details.
Private by design
Personal details, pay, reviews and time-off reasons are visible only to the person, HR, and the managers who need them. Colleagues see when someone is out, never why. HR sees that a 1:1 series exists, never its notes.
Field-level visibility
Each custom field is visible to everyone, to managers and HR, or to HR only, and the server never returns a value the viewer may not see. Saving a record never erases values the editor could not see.
Write-only Social Security numbers
An SSN is stored but never read back by anyone: the field shows On file and offers Replace. Only the data owner can export SSNs in the health insurance census, and every export is logged.
Counts, never money
Dashboards and Home show counts, never amounts. Emails about pay say that pay changed, never the amount. Calibration never shows pay.
Audit history
Every change is written to an audit log automatically, and nobody may edit it. Job changes, the time-off ledger and knowledge versions are kept as dated records.
The assistant asks first
The HR assistant acts with your own access, never more. Anything important, like approving time off or releasing a review, waits for you to press Confirm.
Changes made as you
App access changes and Vanta actions run with the signed-in HR administrator’s own access, so an app they cannot reach never shows, and each change is attributable.
Tamper-evident acceptance log
Policy acceptance exports are hashed with SHA-256 with a manifest, kept in an append-only log, and downloadable exactly as hashed.

Security questions
Who can see salaries in Autessa Homebase?
Each person sees their own pay and HR sees everyone’s. Executives see pay unless HR turns that off, and managers see their team’s pay only if HR turns that on.
Can the AI assistant see data I cannot?
No. The assistant acts as you, with your access, and the server applies the same rules to it as to every page.

Is there an audit trail of HR changes?
