Secure redaction: permanent removal, no lingering originals

Autessa Redact is designed so the redacted copy is the only copy left. Redactions are burned in permanently, the original and every working copy are deleted when the clean file is saved, unfinished files are cleared after 24 hours, and only people whose role includes Redact can use it.

Data handling

How does Autessa Redact handle your documents?

AreaWhat happens
Permanent removalPages are flattened at burn, so text, images and drawings under a box are removed, and the text layer is rebuilt from what is left.
LinksLinks under a box are always removed; Break all links removes every link.
OriginalsDeleted from Redact as soon as the redacted copy is saved to Drive.
Unfinished filesDeleted after 24 hours of inactivity; failed uploads are cleaned up too.
DiscardDeletes a file and every mark on it immediately.
UploadsSent directly to storage over a short-lived signed link.
AI suggestionsPending until a person accepts them; nothing is burned without a decision.
Model choiceSuggestions run on your company’s default model if set, including your own provider key, otherwise Autessa’s built-in model.
Saved copiesOrdinary Drive files whose access follows the folder they are saved to.
Decision cache (pipelines)Per company and encrypted at rest, with versions and review provenance.

Permissions

Who can redact, and who sees the result?

Redact needs the Redact permission, which a company admin grants through a role, and access to at least one Drive where you can save. Every built-in Autessa role includes Redact; a custom role can leave it out. People see only the redacted copy, through the Drive folder it was saved to.

Call Redaction has its own permission and uses keys you create and rotate. For call audio, see SecurePass.

FAQ

Security questions

Does Autessa keep the unredacted original?

No. The original and every working copy are deleted the moment the redacted copy is saved. Unfinished files are deleted after 24 hours, and Discard deletes one at once.

Is redacted text really gone?

Yes. Burning flattens every page so nothing under a box survives, then rebuilds a searchable text layer from only what is left. Links under boxes are removed too.

Who can use Redact?

People whose role includes the Redact permission and who can write to at least one Drive. A company admin decides which roles include it.

Where can I find Autessa’s certifications?

On the Autessa Trust Center at trust.autessa.com.
