Autocomplete and editor tools
The interview editor has Python and Java autocomplete (including members after a dot), syntax highlighting, bracket matching, folding and search, so candidates code the way they do at work.
// the problem
Why autocomplete and editor tools matters in a coding interview
Candidates write their best code in a real editor, not a plain text box. Missing brackets, no indentation help and no completion turn a coding interview into a typing test.
// how it works
How does autocomplete and editor tools work?
Start typing
Syntax highlighting for Python and Java, auto-indent and auto-closing brackets work from the first keystroke.
Use autocomplete
Completion suggests keywords, built-ins, names in your file and members after a dot, such as deque.popleft or StringBuilder.append. Tab or Enter accepts.
Navigate the file
Fold blocks from the gutter, search with Ctrl or Cmd+F, and select rectangles of text.
Make it readable
The interviewer can make the editor text larger or smaller for screen sharing or a big monitor.
// options and settings
Every option, in one place
// permissions
Who can do what?
Company admins decide who on your team can open the interviewer console. Candidates never sign in; they only ever use their session link.

How autocomplete and editor tools fits with the rest
Collaborative code editor
Autessa Technical Interviews includes a collaborative code editor: interviewer and candidate edit one shared file in real time, and each person’s cursor stays put when the other types.
Explore →Focus mode and room layout
Focus mode leaves just the code and the output on screen, and the question pane and output panel collapse or resize, remembered per browser.
Explore →Starter code per language
Each question can carry separate Python and Java starter code, and the candidate’s editor opens with it in whichever language they pick.

Autocomplete and editor tools: questions
Does the editor have autocomplete?
Yes, for both Python and Java, including members after a dot. Tab or Enter accepts a suggestion.
Is autocomplete type-aware?
It is deliberately simple: when it cannot tell a variable’s type it offers the common methods of the usual collections, which covers most interview code.
Can I search inside the code?
Yes. Ctrl+F or Cmd+F opens search in the editor.
100% customizable, code and all
Make Autessa Technical Interviews fully your own.
Use it out of the box, then change anything. Ask Autobot, Autessa’s AI builder, for a new field, screen, report, workflow or agent and it builds it into your copy of the app. Or open the code and edit it yourself. Nothing is locked: the app, its data and its code are yours.
