Recording
Live browser with address bar
The Autodocs recorder is a live cloud browser shown in the page, with an address bar, so you can record on any website without installing an extension.
THE PROBLEM
Extensions and desktop recorders get in the way
Recorders that live in a browser extension depend on the computer, the browser and whatever else is installed. Code recorders open a separate browser and spit out a script. Autodocs puts a real, live browser inside the page, so recording works the same for everyone.
Record in a live browser that runs in the cloud and shows right in the page: an address bar, clicks, typing, scrolling, hover menus and dropdowns.
How it works
How does live browser with address bar work in Autodocs?
- 1
The browser opens in the page
It shows the page live, several frames a second, filling the area under the browser bar.
- 2
Type an address
The address bar follows the page as you browse, except while you are typing in it.
- 3
Use the page directly
Clicks, typing and key presses go straight to the page. Copy, paste and browser shortcuts are left alone.
- 4
Menus and dropdowns work
Hover menus open as you move the pointer. When you click a native dropdown, its options are shown in the page so you can pick one, and the choice is recorded.
- 5
Friendly messages when a site misbehaves
If an address does not exist, a site cannot be reached or a page is slow, you get a plain message instead of a browser error page.
Options and settings
Every option, in one table
| Input | How it works in the live browser |
|---|---|
| Click | Goes to the page at the point you clicked, scaled to the page’s own size. |
| Typing | Sent in order, so fast typing stays in the right order. |
| Keys | Enter, Backspace, Tab, Escape, Delete and the arrow keys are sent as key presses. |
| Scroll | At most one scroll per animation frame, so long scrolls stay smooth. |
| Hover | The pointer position is sent as it moves, so hover menus open. |
| Dropdowns | Native dropdown options are shown in the page and the choice is recorded. |
| Reconnecting | If frames stop for a few seconds, the view says it is reconnecting; a keystroke the connection dropped is sent again. |

AI assist
Where AI helps
AI is used where it saves you work and is always visible: it writes the guide from your recording, and it finds elements that moved during a replay, marking those steps healed. You stay in charge of what gets published.

FAQ
Live browser with address bar: questions
Where does the browser actually run?
In the cloud, on Autessa’s browser service. Your screen shows its page live, and your clicks and typing are sent to it.
Why does a dropdown look different while recording?
A cloud browser does not draw native dropdown lists itself, so Autodocs shows the options in the page for you to choose from. The choice you make is recorded as a normal step.
Can I keep using the rest of Autessa while recording?
Yes. The app sidebar stays as you left it, so the rest of Autessa is one click away, and the recording keeps going until you finish or discard it.
Try live browser with address bar on a task you do every week.
Record it once in Autodocs. You get the guide for your team and the workflow for next time.

100% customizable, code and all
Make Autessa Autodocs fully your own.
Use it out of the box, then change anything. Ask Autobot, Autessa’s AI builder, for a new field, screen, report, workflow or agent and it builds it into your copy of the app. Or open the code and edit it yourself. Nothing is locked: the app, its data and its code are yours.
