Scheduled maintenance · Autessa Status Page
Maintenance lifecycle
Autessa Status Page runs each maintenance window through four states: Scheduled, In progress, Completed and Canceled. Moving it to In progress marks its components Under maintenance; completing or canceling it puts them back to Operational, except components something else still affects.
The problem it solves
A blue light that never turns off is its own outage
Maintenance windows that are announced but never closed leave customers unsure whether the work is still going. Ones that start without any change on the page leave them confused when things get slow. The page should follow the real work: blue while it runs, green when it is done, and nothing at all if it was called off.
What you get
- Four states: Scheduled, In progress, Completed, Canceled.
- Each change is a public update with its own message.
- In progress stamps the actual start time and sets every affected component to Under maintenance.
- Completed stamps the finish time; Completed and Canceled both offer to restore components.
- Components still affected by another open event keep their status.
- Maintenance in progress gets its own "Maintenance in progress" section on the public page.
- Canceled maintenance is left out of the history and the uptime bars.
How it works
How does maintenance lifecycle work?
Announce it
The window is posted as Scheduled and listed under Scheduled maintenance.
Start the work
Post an update with In progress, such as "The work has started." The components show Under maintenance and the banner says scheduled maintenance is in progress.
Finish it
Post Completed with a closing note. Leave the restore box ticked to set the components back to Operational.
Or call it off
Post Canceled. Components are restored, and the window does not appear in the history.
Every option
What each state does
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Scheduled | Listed under Scheduled maintenance. Components are unchanged. Not counted in the history bars. |
| In progress | Listed under Maintenance in progress. Components show Under maintenance. Actual start time recorded. |
| Completed | Moves to past incidents and history. Finish time recorded. Optional restore of components. |
| Canceled | Left out of history and bars. Optional restore of components. |
| Edit details | Change the title, window and affected components at any time. |
| Fix wording | Correct the text of any earlier notice. |
