Live status banner

Autessa Status Page opens with one live status banner that answers the only question a worried customer has: is it working? The banner reads the worst status across your visible components and says it in plain words, from "All systems operational" to "Some systems are unavailable", and the page refreshes itself every minute.

The problem it solves

When something breaks, customers want one sentence, not a dashboard

The first thing people do when an app feels slow is look for a status page. If they find a wall of graphs, jargon or a stale timestamp, they open a support ticket instead. A good status page leads with a single, human sentence about the state of the service, keeps it current without anyone pressing refresh, and tells the reader exactly when it was last updated.

What you get

  • Five plain-language headlines: All systems operational; Scheduled maintenance in progress; Some systems are running slower than usual; Some systems are partly unavailable; Some systems are unavailable.
  • The banner is green, blue, amber, orange or red to match, with a check or an alert icon.
  • It shows "Updated" with the date and time in the visitor's own time zone, and says the page refreshes every minute.
  • An open incident never reads as "All systems operational", even if every component was left green.
  • If a refresh fails, the page keeps showing the last status it loaded and says so, then keeps trying.
  • Visitors can switch the whole page between light and dark.
  • The banner is announced politely to screen readers when it changes.

How it works

How does live status banner work?

  1. Staff change a status

Someone in Status Admin reports an incident, starts maintenance or changes a component's status on the Overview.

  2. The page works out the overall state

It takes the worst status among the components shown on the page. If an incident is still open and everything is green, it reads as running slower than usual rather than all clear.

  3. The banner says it in one sentence

The headline, color and icon match the overall state, with the time it was generated underneath.

  4. It refreshes itself

Every 60 seconds the page asks for the latest status, so a visitor who leaves the tab open sees changes without reloading.

  5. It stays honest when the network does not

If a refresh fails, the last good status stays on screen with a short note, and the page retries on the next minute.

FAQ

Questions about live status banner

How often does the status page update?

Every minute while it is open. Staff changes show on the next refresh, and anyone loading the page fresh sees them right away.

Can the banner say "All systems operational" during an incident?

No. If an incident is open, the overall state is at least "Some systems are running slower than usual", even if no component status was changed.

What happens if the page cannot load the latest status?

It keeps showing the last status it loaded, adds "Showing the last status we loaded. We'll keep trying to refresh.", and tries again. If nothing has loaded yet, it shows a message with a Try again button.

Does it show times in my time zone?

Yes. Every time on the public page is shown in the visitor's own time zone, with the zone abbreviation.
