Report an incident

Autessa Status Page lets your team report an incident from a single form in Status Admin: a customer-friendly title, the impact, the starting status, each affected component with its own severity, and the first update customers will read. Post it, and the status page, banner and component statuses change at once.

The problem it solves

The first five minutes decide how the incident feels

When something breaks, the team is busy fixing it, and the status page is an afterthought. If posting takes many screens, it happens late, and customers find out from each other. A short form that also updates every affected component means the first public word goes out while the engineers are still investigating.

What you get

  • One form: Title, Impact, Status, Affected components and First update.
  • Impact: None, Minor, Major or Critical.
  • Start as Investigating, Identified or Monitoring.
  • Tick each affected component and pick how it is affected: Degraded performance, Partial outage or Major outage.
  • Each component you pick changes to that status on the public page as soon as you post.
  • The start time and the person who posted are recorded automatically.
  • Helpful prompts if the title or first update is missing.
  • "Report an incident" is one click from the Overview and the Incidents list.

How it works

How does report an incident work?

  1. Open Report an incident

From the Overview or the Incidents page in Status Admin.

  2. Name it for customers

A title people will understand, like "Slow responses in the web app", plus the impact.

  3. Pick what it affects

Tick the components and choose for each whether it is degraded, partly down or fully down.

  4. Write the first update

A sentence or two on what customers are seeing and that you are on it.

  5. Post incident

The incident page goes live, the components change, and the banner and Current incidents section update.

FAQ

Questions about report an incident

How do I post an incident on the status page?

Open Status Admin, choose Report an incident, fill in the title, impact, status, affected components and first update, and select Post incident. It is public right away.

Can one incident affect components differently?

Yes. Each affected component gets its own severity, so the API can show Partial outage while the web app shows Degraded performance.

Where do we keep our incident runbook?

In Autessa Autodocs. Do the response steps once in the browser and Autodocs captures them automatically as a step-by-step guide and a replayable workflow your on-call team can follow.
