Playback keys

Autessa Video Creator’s public viewer plays videos with a private, read-only playback key. Video Creator creates the key and installs it in the viewer for you, so you never copy it anywhere. From Settings you can set it up, fix it, rotate it or turn it off.

Site keys

Your public VideoViewer uses a private, read-only key to play published videos. Video Creator makes it and adds it to the viewer for you. You never need to copy it anywhere.

The problem

A public page needs a key, and keys get leaked

A public viewer has to read something from your workspace. The safe way is a narrow key that can only play published videos, that nobody ever sees or pastes, and that you can rotate or switch off in one click.

What you get

  • The key is read-only and narrow: it lets the viewer play published videos and nothing else.
  • Key values are never shown; they go straight from Autessa into the viewer.
  • Statuses: Active, Not set up, Off, Needs attention and Couldn’t check.
  • Rotate swaps in a new key with no interruption: videos keep playing and the old key is turned off.
  • Turn off asks you to confirm, then stops every shared video from playing until you set it up again.

FAQ

Questions about playback keys

Can I see or copy the key?

No. Key values are never shown. Video Creator creates the key and places it in the viewer directly.

Will rotating the key break links?

No. Rotation puts the new key in place before turning the old one off, so videos keep playing.

How do I stop all public playback at once?

Turn off the video playback key in Settings, then Site keys. Every public link stops playing until you set it up again.
