How-to guides
Every step in an Autodocs guide has its own screenshot with a highlight around the exact button, link or field that was used.
THE PROBLEM
A screenshot without a pointer leaves readers hunting. Annotating by hand takes longer than the task. Autodocs knows exactly which element each step used, so it draws the highlight for you.
Every step of an Autodocs guide comes with a screenshot of the page, and a rounded highlight drawn around the exact element that was clicked or typed into.
How it works
For every step it keeps where the clicked or typed-in element sat on the page.
Each step’s picture is stored with the workflow.
Around the element that step used. A step without an element keeps the plain screenshot.
The guide’s Markdown names them step-01.jpg, step-02.jpg and so on, in the doc’s folder.
Options and settings
| Detail | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Highlight | A rounded box around the element the step used. |
| File names | step-01.jpg, step-02.jpg… in the doc’s Drive folder. |
| Viewing | Pictures load through short-lived links when the doc is opened. |
| Refreshing | Each run of the workflow re-shoots the pictures (see Self-updating screenshots). |

AI assist
AI is used where it saves you work and is always visible: it writes the guide from your recording, and it finds elements that moved during a replay, marking those steps healed. You stay in charge of what gets published.

Use it out of the box, then change anything. Ask Autobot, Autessa’s AI builder, for a new field, screen, report, workflow or agent and it builds it into your copy of the app. Or open the code and edit it yourself. Nothing is locked: the app, its data and its code are yours.
