Reusable templates

Autessa e-signature templates hold a document, a field layout and named roles such as Client and Provider instead of specific people. Signing order, completion policy and viewer roles are baked in, so creating a new envelope is just assigning a real person to each role.

The problem it solves

Laying out the same NDA for the hundredth time

Engagement letters, NDAs, onboarding packs and renewals go out over and over, and each send means placing the same fields and setting the same order. Mistakes creep in. A template removes the two slow parts and leaves only the part that changes: who signs.

What you get

  • Build a template by uploading a document under Templates, with a title and a short description.
  • Name roles in the order they should sign, using names people recognize (Client, Ops rep).
  • Mark any role as a viewer role for a CC that never signs.
  • Set the default signing order and completion policy; every envelope from the template inherits them.
  • Lay out fields exactly as on an envelope, assigning each to a role, with the same toolbox, undo, copy and paste, labels and required flags.
  • Use template: name the envelope, assign an email (and optional name) to each role, add a client group to any signer role, and create a ready-to-send draft.
  • Instantiation copies rather than links, so editing a template never changes envelopes already created from it.
  • The Templates list shows role, field and document counts; Edit details changes the title, description, signing order and completion policy.

How it works

Reusable templates, step by step

  1. New template

Upload the document and give it a title and description.

  2. Roles

Name the signing roles in order, mark viewer roles, and set the default signing order.

  3. Fields

Drag fields onto the document and assign each to a role.

  4. Save, then use

Click Use template, assign people to roles and create the draft. Fill any required prefill and send.

Every option

RolesNamed signer roles, in signing order.
Viewer rolesCC roles: single address, no slot, no group.
Signing orderEveryone at once or One at a time; inherited by every envelope.
Completion policyEvery slot signs, or the first signature completes.
FieldsAssigned to roles; same field types and properties as envelopes.
Use templateTitle plus a person per role (with optional client group) creates a draft.
ConversionThere is no “save envelope as template”; upload the file under Templates.

FAQ

Reusable templates: questions and answers

Does Autessa have e-signature templates?

Yes. A template holds a document set, a field layout and named roles, plus signing order, completion policy and viewer roles. Use template creates a ready-to-send draft.

How do I turn a contract I send often into a template?

Upload the same file under Templates and lay the fields out once. Every send after that is choosing who signs.

Does editing a template change envelopes I already created?

No. Creating an envelope copies the template, so later edits never touch existing envelopes.

Who on my team can send from a template?

Anyone with READ access. READ lets people send from a template without changing the layout everyone depends on.

Send your first envelope today

Templates hold a field layout bound to named roles, plus signing order, completion policy and viewer roles, so a new envelope is created by assigning people to roles.
