Send for signature · Autessa Document Signing
Client groups (any one signs)
A client group puts several people into one signer slot so that any one of them can sign for it. Autessa Document Signing shows the slot as “any one of them signs”, counts it as one required signature, and lets whoever signs first fill every field on that slot.
The problem it solves
Waiting on the one person who is out of office
Many agreements need a signature from the customer, not from one particular person at the customer. Most e-signature tools make you pick a single signer and hope they are around, then void and resend when they are not. A client group names everyone who may sign for a party, so the first one available finishes the job.
What you get
- Add several people to the same signer slot to form a client group.
- Any one person in the group signing satisfies the whole slot.
- Fields belong to the slot, not the person, so you never place duplicate fields for each member.
- The review screen labels the slot “Any one of these people signs”.
- The signatures counter counts slots, not people: a group of three counts as one required signature.
- A signer can add an alternate to their own slot with Delegate signer, which joins the same group.
- An envelope can also use a first-signature completion policy, where the first signature on any slot completes it.
How it works
Client groups (any one signs), step by step
Add the first signer
On the Recipients step, add the primary signer for the slot.
Add others to the same slot
Add more people into that slot. They become a client group, and any one of them can sign for it.
Place fields once
Assign fields to the slot. Whoever in the group signs first fills them.
Send
Every member of the group is invited when it is the slot’s turn. Once one signs, the slot is satisfied.
Every option
Group and completion options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Client group | Several recipients in one signer slot. Any one signs for the slot. |
| Fields | Assigned to the slot and filled by whoever in the group signs. |
| Counter | Signatures collected versus required, counting slots rather than people. |
| Every slot signs (ALL) | The default: the envelope completes when every slot is satisfied. |
| First signature (ANY_ONE) | The first signature completes the envelope. Not available with One at a time. |
| Templates | When you create an envelope from a template, you can add extra people to any signer role to form a group. |

Who can do what?
| Who | Can |
|---|---|
| Sender (envelope owner) | Create the envelope, set recipients, place fields, edit pages while it is a draft, and send. The owner always holds ADMIN on their own envelope. |
| Colleague with WRITE | Rename the envelope. Preparing and sending a draft is the owner’s job. |
| Colleague with PUBLISH | Once sent: direct links, reminders, resend link, void and mark as executed. |
| Company admin | Decide which roles can use Document Signing at all. It appears in the sidebar only for people whose role allows it. |

FAQ
Client groups (any one signs): questions and answers
Can any one of several people sign for a party?
Yes. Put them in the same signer slot as a client group. Whichever one signs first satisfies the slot and fills its fields.
Do I need to place fields for every person in the group?
No. Fields belong to the slot, so you place them once and whoever signs fills them.
Can an envelope complete on the first signature?
Yes, with the first-signature completion policy, which can be set through templates, scripts and the API. It cannot be combined with One at a time, because a one-at-a-time envelope that completes on the first signature would be a contradiction.
