Delegate signer
Delegate signer lets a recipient who is not the right person hand the signature to someone else without forwarding the email. In Autessa the delegate is added to the same slot as an alternate signer: either person can now sign, and the delegation is recorded on the audit trail with both people named.
The problem it solves
Forwarded invitations break the paper trail
When a contract lands with the wrong person, they usually forward the email. That hands over a working signing link with no record of who authorized it. Delegation keeps the change inside the envelope, names both parties, and leaves the original signer on it in case they end up signing after all.
What you get
- Delegate signer sits in the header of the signing page.
- The signer enters the delegate’s email and an optional name.
- The delegate joins the same slot as an alternate signer, which is the same thing as joining the slot’s client group.
- Either the original signer or the delegate can sign; whoever does satisfies the slot.
- The original signer is not removed.
- Requesting the delegation is the signer’s own authorization, and the DELEGATED event names both parties on the audit trail.

FAQ
Delegate signer: questions and answers
Can a signer pass a document to someone else?
Yes. They use Delegate signer on the signing page and enter the other person’s email. The delegate joins their slot and either can sign.
Is the original signer removed?
No. Both remain on the slot, and whoever signs first satisfies it.
Why not just forward the email?
The emailed link is the signer’s credential. Forwarding it leaves no record; delegation is recorded on the audit trail with both people named.
