Autessa Document Signing · All features
Every e-signature feature, section by section
Autessa Document Signing is complete e-signature software you can use from day one: sending documents for signature, the signer experience, tracking and closing, the audit trail and sealed PDFs, templates, organizing and sharing, and developer tools.
Section 1
Send for signature
Autessa Document Signing turns any file into a signing envelope in four steps: upload, recipients and signing order, fields, and review.
Upload any document
Autessa Document Signing accepts PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, RTF, text, HTML, Pages, Outlook .msg and image files and converts each to a PDF on upload.
Read more →Signing order
Autessa Document Signing supports parallel signing (everyone at once) and sequential signing (one at a time), where each numbered slot is invited when the one before it finishes.
Read more →Client groups (any one signs)
A client group puts several people in one signer slot so that any one of them can sign for it, and an envelope can also be set to complete on the first signature.
Read more →CC viewers
Viewers are CC recipients who never sign: Autessa emails them a read-only copy on send, a clearly marked progress copy after each signature, and the sealed document at the end.
Read more →Drag-and-drop field editor
The field editor lets you drag signature, initials, name, email, date signed, text and checkbox fields onto the document, assign each to a signer and copy them across pages.
Read more →Prefilled content
Prefilled content (static text, multi-line text, static dates and images) is filled by the sender and flattened into the PDF at send, so every signature covers it and no signer can change it.
Read more →Page editing and redlines
Before sending, you can delete pages, append a PDF addendum, reorder pages and draw red strike lines through clauses, and the document is frozen once it is sent.
Read more →Review and send
The review step summarizes the envelope, blocks the send while any required prefilled field is empty, and lets you set a custom invitation subject and note before sending.
Read more →Section 2
Signer experience
Signers never create an account or install anything: they open a link, agree to sign electronically, fill their fields and sign in the browser.
Sign without an account
Signers open an emailed link and sign in the browser with no account, app or password, guided by a checklist that jumps to each of their fields.
Read more →Draw, type or upload a signature
Signers adopt a signature or initials by drawing it, typing it in one of several script fonts, or uploading a PNG or JPG, and preview it before applying.
Read more →Delegate signer
Delegate signer lets a recipient add an alternate signer to their own slot, so either person can sign, with both named on the audit trail.
Read more →Decline to sign
Any signer can decline from the signing page with a reason, which notifies the sender, is recorded on the audit trail and moves the envelope to Rejected.
Read more →Direct signing links
Direct links give you a per-recipient signing link and one envelope-level link, so you can deliver signing outside email or sign in person on a tablet.
Read more →Signed copies for everyone
At completion every signer and viewer receives a link to a hosted download page that mints a fresh short-lived URL each time and offers a request-a-new-link button.
Read more →Section 3
Tracking and closing
Every envelope shows exactly where it stands and ends one of three ways: it completes, you mark it executed, or you void it.
Envelope tracking
Envelope tracking shows every recipient’s milestones (invited, viewed, signed, rejected), a signatures-collected-versus-required counter and a filterable list of every envelope.
Read more →Reminders and resend link
Send reminder emails everyone still outstanding and Resend link emails one hold-out a fresh invitation, and both are recorded on the audit trail.
Read more →Mark as executed
Mark as executed seals a sent envelope with the signatures collected so far, marks the rest not required, closes their links and sends the final copy to those who signed.
Read more →Void, expiry and delete
Voiding cancels an envelope with a reason and kills every outstanding link, links expire on a date set at send, and only drafts and voided envelopes can ever be deleted.
Read more →Section 4
Audit trail and sealed PDFs
Every signature is embedded in the PDF as a PAdES digital signature, so any change after signing is detectable in any standard PDF reader, not only in Autessa.
Tamper-evident audit trail
Every envelope carries a cryptographically chained audit trail in which each event hashes into the next, so removing or altering an entry breaks the chain and shows Chain compromised.
Read more →PAdES digital signatures
Each signature is embedded in the PDF as a PAdES-B-T digital signature with an RFC 3161 trusted timestamp, keyed to an ephemeral per-signer certificate.
Read more →Certificate of Completion
A Certificate of Completion is appended to every sealed PDF, and SHA-256 hashes of the original, prefilled and sealed versions are kept on the envelope.
Read more →Consent and identity attestation
Before signing, each signer agrees to electronic records and signatures, and before submitting they confirm they are the named person and authorized to sign.
Read more →Section 5
Templates
A template is a document set plus a field layout plus named roles, so every repeat send is only a matter of choosing who signs.
Reusable templates
Templates hold a field layout bound to named roles, plus signing order, completion policy and viewer roles, so a new envelope is created by assigning people to roles.
Read more →Multi-document templates
A template can hold a document set whose fields anchor to each document, so adding, replacing, reordering or renaming one file never moves fields on the others.
Read more →Section 7
Developers and automation
Everything the web app does to an envelope, your scripts, apps and back-end systems can do through the same service and the same audit trail.
E-signature API and CLI
The Poweruser API exposes envelopes, templates and folders over HTTP, and the Autessa CLI lists, inspects, downloads and files envelopes from a terminal.
Read more →Scripts and automations
The autessa.eSignature SDK lets scripts, table triggers, scheduled jobs and agent tools create, send, remind and download envelopes inside Autessa.
Read more →Embedded signing
Custom Apps can render the hosted signer inline with the PdfSigner component, so users sign without leaving your app or opening an email.
