Sharing and permissions

Every Autessa envelope, template and folder is private to its owner until shared. Share with people, teams, company roles or everyone at your company, each at READ, WRITE, PUBLISH or ADMIN; a colleague gets the highest level from any grant that covers them, and every share, unshare and ownership transfer is recorded on the audit trail.

The problem it solves

Contracts are sensitive by default

An offer letter, a vendor agreement and a settlement should not be visible to the whole company just because they live in the same tool. At the same time, a colleague covering your vacation needs to chase signers on your deals. Per-envelope access levels give each of those exactly what it needs.

What you get

  • Private by default: recipients work through their own links and never see your workspace.
  • Share with people, teams or company roles, each at its own level, or with everyone at your company.
  • READ: view, audit trail and downloads. WRITE: also rename. PUBLISH: also direct links, reminders, resend, void and mark as executed. ADMIN: also share, unshare, transfer ownership and delete.
  • The owner always holds ADMIN implicitly.
  • PUBLISH is the level for a colleague covering for you: they can chase, void and seal, but not change sharing.
  • Transfer ownership moves an envelope to another company member; you keep any explicit grant you had.
  • Every share, unshare, sharing level change and ownership transfer is on the audit trail.

FAQ

Sharing and permissions: questions and answers

Who can see my envelopes?

Only you, until you share them. Recipients only ever see their own signing or viewing links.

How do I let a colleague manage my envelopes while I am away?

Share at PUBLISH. They can remind, resend, share direct links, void and mark as executed, but cannot change who it is shared with.

Can I hand an envelope to someone else?

Yes. Transfer ownership moves it to another company member, who gets implicit ADMIN.
