The problem it solves

Contracts rarely start life as a PDF

Most agreements are drafted in Word, pricing lives in Excel, and scopes get approved over email. Exporting, renaming and re-uploading each one before you can ask for a signature is a small tax on every deal. Autessa takes the file you already have and does the conversion for you, so the only thing you prepare is the signing itself.

What you get

  • Upload PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, RTF, plain text, HTML, Pages and Outlook .msg files.
  • Images work too: PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF and HEIC, so a photo of a paper form can go out for signature.
  • Anything that is not already a PDF is converted to one on upload; the button reads Converting… while it works.
  • Each file can be up to 25 MB.
  • The document title is filled in from the file name (without the extension), and you can change it before you continue.
  • What every signer sees, and what is sealed at the end, is the converted PDF, so you review the real pages before placing fields.
  • While the envelope is a draft you can append more PDFs, delete pages and reorder them.

How it works

Upload any document, step by step

  1. Start a new envelope

From Document Signing, choose New envelope. You land on the upload step, the first of four: upload, recipients, fields and review.

  2. Drop the file

Drag a file onto the upload area or click to browse. Office files, text, HTML, .msg and images are converted to PDF; PDFs are used as they are.

  3. Name it

Give it a document title. The file name is suggested, but a title such as “Vendor MSA: ACME Corp.” reads far better in the envelope list and in invitation emails.

  4. Check the preview

Continue to the next step and look at the converted pages before you place fields, especially for Word documents with unusual layouts. The builder saves your work as you move between steps.

FAQ

Upload any document: questions and answers

Can I send a Word document for signature?

Yes. Upload the .docx and Autessa converts it to a PDF on upload. Signers see and sign the converted PDF, so check the preview before you place fields.

What is the file size limit?

Each file can be up to 25 MB. Large files take a few seconds to convert, and the button reads Converting… while that happens.

Can I sign a photo of a paper document?

Yes. PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF and HEIC images are converted to a PDF page that you can place fields on and send.

Can I add another document after uploading?

Yes, while the envelope is still a draft. Use Append PDF to add a schedule or addendum to the end, and reorder or delete pages as needed.
