Send for signature · Autessa Document Signing
CC viewers
Viewers are CC recipients on an Autessa e-signature envelope: they never sign, but they always know where the document stands. Autessa emails each viewer a read-only copy when you send, a progress copy after every signature, and the sealed document once everyone has signed.
The problem it solves
The people who need a copy are not the people who sign
A records inbox, a paralegal, a manager or the other side’s accountant all need the document, but none of them should hold up completion. Forwarding copies by hand means someone always gets a mid-flight version and files it as final. Viewers get every version automatically, each clearly labeled.
What you get
- Add anyone as a Viewer in the Viewers section, below the signers.
- Viewers get a read-only copy on send.
- After each signature they get a progress copy plus a Signing Status Report, worded so it is clear the document is not yet fully executed.
- At completion they get the final sealed PDF.
- Viewers hold no slot, take no turn under One at a time, and never hold up completion.
- Viewers open a simple read-only view link: no consent screen, no fields, no signing.
- Progress links are deliberately short-lived, since a fresh copy follows the next signature.
- Templates can include viewer roles, so a records inbox is CC’d on every send.
How it works
CC viewers, step by step
Open the Viewers section
On the Recipients step, scroll below the signers to Viewers.
Add a viewer
Enter an email (and a name if you like). Contact autocomplete suggests people you have sent to before.
Send
The viewer gets a read-only copy right away, and appears on the envelope as Notified.
Keep them informed automatically
Each signature sends them a progress copy. Completion sends the sealed document.

Permissions
Who can do what?
| Who | Can |
|---|---|
| Sender (envelope owner) | Create the envelope, set recipients, place fields, edit pages while it is a draft, and send. The owner always holds ADMIN on their own envelope. |
| Viewer | Open read-only copies from their emails. Cannot sign, fill fields or change anything. |
| Company admin | Decide which roles can use Document Signing at all. It appears in the sidebar only for people whose role allows it. |

FAQ
CC viewers: questions and answers
How do I CC someone on a document that needs signatures?
Add them as a Viewer on the Recipients step. They get a read-only copy on send, a progress copy after each signature and the sealed document at the end.
Can a viewer hold up the envelope?
No. Viewers hold no slot and never factor into the signatures required, so they cannot delay completion.
How do viewers know a copy is not final?
Progress copies come with a Signing Status Report and are worded to make clear the document is not yet fully executed.
