Decline to sign

Any signer on an Autessa envelope can decline to sign. They give a reason, which is shown to the sender and recorded on the audit trail, and the whole envelope moves to Rejected.

The problem it solves

Silence is worse than a no

A signer who disagrees with a clause often just stops responding, and the sender keeps chasing a deal that is already stuck. A clear decline with a reason tells you exactly what to fix, so you can correct it and send a new envelope.

What you get

  • Decline sits on the signing page, and I don’t agree on the consent screen leads there too.
  • The signer is asked for a reason, which is shown to you.
  • Declining notifies the sender.
  • The reason is recorded on the audit trail.
  • The whole envelope moves to Rejected, and it cannot be undone by the signer.
  • To proceed, fix what they objected to and send a new envelope.

How it works

Decline to sign, step by step

  1. Signer chooses Decline

From the signing page, or by choosing I don’t agree on the consent screen.

  2. They give a reason

For example, “The payment terms say net 15. We agreed net 30.”

  3. You are notified

The envelope shows Rejected with the reason.

  4. Send a corrected envelope

Fix the terms and send again.
