Anonymous or confidential reporting

Autessa Ethics Hotline supports both anonymous reporting and confidential reporting. Anonymous is the default: the hotline never asks who the reporter is and follows up only through the case code and passphrase. Confidential shares a name and email with the ethics committee alone, and the reporter gets an email whenever the status changes.

👁‍🗨 Anonymous Recommended
We don’t ask who you are. You follow up with your case code and passphrase.
Confidential
Your name and email are shared only with the committee, and we email you when the status changes.
Anonymous reports send no name, no email and no device details at all.

Why it matters

One size of anonymity doesn’t fit every reporter

Some people will only speak up if nobody can ever know it was them. Others want to be reachable and kept informed, but not have their name travel beyond the people investigating. A hotline that forces one choice loses the other group. Ethics Hotline offers both, explains each in one sentence, and recommends Anonymous.

What you get

  • Anonymous (recommended): no name, no email and no device details are sent at all.
  • Confidential: name (up to 100 characters) and email are visible only to committee members who can see the case.
  • Confidential reporters are emailed when the status changes or a message is waiting, with no report details.
  • The case page shows Anonymous or Confidential as a badge, and a Reporter card with the name and email when shared.
  • Anonymous reporters are reached only through the conversation on the hotline.
  • The form suggests a personal email address for confidential reports if the reporter prefers.

How it works

How does anonymous or confidential reporting work?

  1. The reporter chooses a mode

On step two, two cards explain Anonymous and Confidential. Anonymous is selected by default and marked Recommended.

  2. Confidential asks for a name and email

Only when Confidential is chosen. The hint says only committee members who can see the report will see them.

  3. The review page confirms it

“Contact: Anonymous” or “Confidential: name (email)”, with an Edit link.

  4. The committee sees the mode on the case

An Anonymous or Confidential badge, and for confidential reports the reporter’s name and a mailto link, “shared in confidence with the committee only”.

FAQ

Questions about anonymous or confidential reporting

What is the difference between anonymous and confidential reporting?

Anonymous means the hotline never knows who you are; you follow up with a case code and passphrase. Confidential means you share your name and email with the ethics committee only, and the hotline emails you when your case’s status changes.

Which mode is the default?

Anonymous. It is selected when the form opens and marked Recommended.

Who sees a confidential reporter’s name?

Only committee members who can see that case. Members the reporter left out never see it, and the name is never in any email.

Give your people a safe way to speak up.

Every reporter chooses between Anonymous, where the hotline never asks who they are, and Confidential, where only the committee sees their name and email and they get status emails.
