Why it matters

Boards and auditors ask whether the hotline is used and answered

Having a whistleblower channel is not the same as running one well. Committees need to show that reports arrive, that they are looked at quickly and that they are closed. Metrics give those answers on one page, without anyone building a spreadsheet.

What you get

  • Five headline numbers: reports received, open now, closed, median time to triage and median time to close.
  • Cases by category and by state as simple bars.
  • A year filter, from all years down to any single year with cases.
  • An “Include hotline tests” toggle, off by default.
  • Counts cover only the cases the viewer can see.
  • A note that spells out how each time is measured.

FAQ

Questions about hotline metrics

What metrics should an ethics hotline track?

At minimum: how many reports arrive, how many are open, how quickly they are first looked at and how quickly they are closed, and the mix by category. Autessa Ethics Hotline shows all of these, by year.

How is time to triage measured?

From the moment the report was received to the first time the case moved out of New. Time to close runs from receipt to Closed or Dismissed. Both are shown as medians.

Do hotline tests skew the numbers?

No. Tests are left out of metrics and the export unless you switch on “Include hotline tests”.
