Billing in your apps · Autessa Payments
Paywalls and checkout in your apps
Apps you build on Autessa can sell your plans with four ready-made components: PaywallGate shows content only to paying people, UpgradeButton sends someone to checkout, ManageBillingButton opens their billing page and PlanPicker shows every plan. Turn on Let people pay and subscribe in this app in the app’s Settings → Permissions.
The problem it solves
Monetizing an internal tool or client portal should take minutes
Adding billing to an app usually means a processor integration, webhooks and an entitlement table. In Autessa, every app already includes the Payments library; you wrap a page and you are done. AutoBot can do it for you in plain words.
What you get
- PaywallGate optionally requires one plan with requirePlanId; everyone else sees a fallback, a PlanPicker by default.
- UpgradeButton’s planId is optional when only one plan is offered.
- The Payments card in Settings → Permissions lists the plans offered in the app, with Manage plans.
- Subscriptions need Visitor accounts or Personal access links sign-in; public apps can show plans and take one-time payments.
- Billing is off in team-only apps; it works in apps your customers sign in to.
- Ask AutoBot: “Put the reports page behind the Pro plan.” It knows the offered plans and uses these components.
- Paying customers appear in your Customers list with the app they signed up in.

AI assist
How AI helps here
AutoBot, the App Builder assistant, adds paywalls on request using these components, and tells you to turn Payments on in Settings → Permissions if it is off.
Nothing that creates, sends or changes money happens until a person confirms it.

FAQ
Questions about paywalls and checkout in your apps
Can I add a paywall to an app I built on Autessa?
Yes. Turn on Payments for the app and wrap the page in PaywallGate, or ask AutoBot to do it.
Do visitors need an account to subscribe?
Yes. Subscriptions belong to a signed-in person, so the app uses Visitor accounts or Personal access links. Public apps can still show plans and take one-time payments.
Do I need to store who has paid?
No. The components and Payments.entitlement() always read the current status.
100% customizable, code and all
Make Autessa Payments fully your own.
Use it out of the box, then change anything. Ask Autobot, Autessa’s AI builder, for a new field, screen, report, workflow or agent and it builds it into your copy of the app. Or open the code and edit it yourself. Nothing is locked: the app, its data and its code are yours.
