Subscription plans and free trials
Autessa Payments subscription plans define what people can subscribe to: a name, a price, how often it renews (every so many days, weeks, months or years), an optional free trial and up to ten features. Offer a plan in all your apps or in one, and change it any time; current subscribers keep their price.
The problem it solves
Pricing should be data, not code
Hard-coding prices into an app means a release for every change. Plans live in Payments, so the apps you build, subscription links and checkout all read the same plan, and archiving one stops new sign-ups without touching current subscribers.
What you get
- Price from $0.50 up to just under $1,000,000.
- Billing intervals: daily (up to every 365 days), weekly (52), monthly (12) or yearly (3).
- Free trials from 0 to 730 days; customers add a payment method up front and are charged when the trial ends.
- A description and up to ten features show on the plan card wherever it is offered.
- Offer in: All apps, or one app you built.
- Price or interval changes apply to new subscribers; current subscribers keep their price.
- Archive a plan to stop offering it; archived plans are listed separately, and live subscribers keep it until they cancel.

How does subscription plans and free trials work in Autessa Payments?
Create the plan
On Plans, click New plan and enter a name, price and how often it renews.
Add a trial and features
Optional free trial days, description and up to ten features.
Choose where it is offered
All apps, or one app. Turn Payments on for the app in its Settings → Permissions.
Sell it
In your app with PlanPicker or UpgradeButton, or with a subscription link you send.

FAQ
Questions about subscription plans and free trials
Can I offer a free trial?
Yes, up to 730 days. The customer adds a card at checkout, isn’t charged until the trial ends, and gets a reminder 3 days before the first charge.
What happens to current subscribers if I raise the price?
They keep their price. Only new subscribers pay the new one.
Does sales tax apply to subscriptions?
Yes. Each renewal invoice adds sales tax for the customer’s billing address in the places you collect tax, just like any other invoice.
