Autessa Payments runs subscription billing end to end: plans, checkout, renewals, retries, plan switches with credit for unused time, and a self-serve billing page for your customers.
Features
What is in subscriptions?
Subscription billing in Autessa Payments: plans with free trials, automatic renewals, failed-payment retries, plan switching with proration, hosted checkout and a billing portal. Each feature has its own page with how it works, every option, who can do what and FAQs.
Subscription plans and free trials
Autessa Payments plans set a price, how often it renews, an optional free trial and a feature list, and current subscribers keep their price when you change it.

How Autessa Payments handles subscriptions
Subscription plans and free trials →
- Price from $0.50 up to just under $1,000,000.
- Billing intervals: daily (up to every 365 days), weekly (52), monthly (12) or yearly (3).
- Free trials from 0 to 730 days; customers add a payment method up front and are charged when the trial ends.
Renewals and failed-payment retries →
- Each renewal invoice is a normal invoice with tax and a receipt, listed in the subscription’s Cycle history.
- A failed charge sets Payment overdue; the list shows the retry in progress (for example “Retry 2 of 4 on Nov 14”) and why the last charge failed.
- Customers keep access while Autessa retries, and can pay the invoice or update their card from the email.
Plan switching and proration →
- The preview shows Credit for unused time, Tax, Due today and “Then $X from <date>”.
- If the credit is larger than the new price, nothing is charged today and the rest comes off the next charge.
- A failed switch charge is retried like a renewal.
Subscription management →
- Filters: All, Active, Free trial, Payment overdue and Ended, with counts.
- Rows show the next charge or the retry in progress and the last failure reason.
- Detail fields: status, plan, price, next charge, current period end, trial end, payment method, credit, bought in, started, ended and why.
Subscription links →
- Pick any active plan; with none, the dialog offers Create a plan.
- Email it to them, or create the link and copy it.
- The link signs them up as that customer, so share it only with them.
Hosted checkout and billing portal →
- Checkout shows your business name, logo and color, the plan or payment, trial terms and the total due today.
- Step 1 collects name, email (locked to the signed-in email when there is one) and billing address for tax; step 2 takes card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- The button reads Start free trial, Subscribe with the amount, or Pay with the amount.
FAQ
Questions about subscriptions
Can I offer a free trial?
Yes, up to 730 days. The customer adds a card at checkout, isn’t charged until the trial ends, and gets a reminder 3 days before the first charge.
How many times does Autessa retry a failed charge?
Three times, 1, 3 and 7 days after the first failed attempt, for four attempts in all. Then the subscription ends.
Does Autessa prorate plan changes?
Yes. The unused days of the current period become credit against the new plan, and a new period starts today.
What happens when I cancel immediately?
Access ends right away. If you want to give back the rest of the period, issue a refund separately, so you stay in control of every dollar.
