Paywalls and In-App Checkout for Your Apps
Apps you build on Autessa can sell your plans, put pages behind a paywall and check who is paying with a few ready-made components, while card details stay on an Autessa-hosted checkout.
Features
What is in billing in your apps?
Sell plans and one-time payments inside apps you build on Autessa: paywall components, a Payments service, hosted checkout, entitlement checks and Marketplace app sales. Each feature has its own page with how it works, every option, who can do what and FAQs.
Paywalls and checkout in your apps
Apps built on Autessa can sell your plans with four ready-made components (PaywallGate, UpgradeButton, ManageBillingButton, PlanPicker), turned on per app in one switch.

The Autessa Payments service gives your app plans(), entitlement(), checkout() for plans or one-time amounts, manageBilling() and a change listener, so you never store a paid flag.

Autessa Payments is how you get paid for apps you sell in the Autessa Marketplace: buyers pay your business, retries and receipts are handled, and earnings join your payouts.

How Autessa Payments handles billing in your apps
Paywalls and checkout in your apps →
- PaywallGate optionally requires one plan with requirePlanId; everyone else sees a fallback, a PlanPicker by default.
- UpgradeButton’s planId is optional when only one plan is offered.
- The Payments card in Settings → Permissions lists the plans offered in the app, with Manage plans.
Entitlements and one-time payments →
- entitlement() returns isPaying, status, plan, currentPeriodEnd, trialEnd and cancelAtPeriodEnd; pass refresh: true to check again.
- isPaying is true for Active, Free trial and Payment overdue subscriptions.
- plans() returns available: false with a plain reason when Payments is off or not ready, so the app can hide billing cleanly.
Sell apps in the Marketplace →
- Your company needs a verified Payments account that can take payments; until then the Price step only offers Free.
- Receipts and billing emails go out in your business’s name.
- Failed monthly payments are retried and the buyer is emailed; if every retry fails, the app pauses in their company until they renew.
FAQ
Questions about billing in your apps
Can I add a paywall to an app I built on Autessa?
Yes. Turn on Payments for the app and wrap the page in PaywallGate, or ask AutoBot to do it.
Can an app take a one-time payment?
Yes. Call Payments.checkout with amountCents and a description instead of a planId.
Do I need Autessa Payments to sell in the Marketplace?
Yes. Paid listings need a verified Autessa Payments account; until then you can list apps for free.
