Texting consent and opt-outs
Autessa Phone & Texting includes SMS consent management: a registry of everyone who agreed to texts and everyone who opted out, filled automatically from your consent site, AI calls, staff calls, keypad menus and incoming texts. A text only goes out to someone who texted you within the last year or has an approved consent record, and an opt-out always wins.
The problem it solves
Texting without proof of consent is a risk
Carriers and texting rules expect you to know who agreed to hear from you, how and in what words, and to stop the moment someone says STOP. Spreadsheets and memory do not hold up. Autessa records consent wherever it happens and checks it on every send.
What you get
- Consent is recorded from the hosted consent form, AI agents on calls, staff using "Agreed to texts" on a call, keypad menus with an ask-to-text step, inbound callers and inbound texts.
- Records keep the exact wording, any evidence file and the linked call.
- Manual consent can be added: user-initiated consent is approved right away, while web form, verbal, written and other consent goes to platform review.
- Evidence can be a PNG, JPG or PDF of up to 10 MB.
- A text is allowed only if the person texted you within the last year or has an approved consent record.
- Opt-outs always win, and texts to people who replied STOP are not sent.
- Phone numbers are stored encrypted and shown masked in the list.
How it works
How does texting consent and opt-outs work?
Collect consent where it happens
People sign up on your consent site, agree on a call with an AI agent or staff, press a key in a call flow, or text you first.
See who you can text
Open Who you can text to filter by agreed or opted out, look up a number, and see counts waiting for review.
Add consent by hand
Add consent with the method and evidence. User-initiated consent is approved immediately; the rest is reviewed.
Send with confidence
Every text from the inbox, an agent or a script is checked against consent, and opted-out numbers are never texted.

AI on the line
What AI agents do here
A voice agent can read your consent wording, record the caller's yes with the exact words, and send a confirmation text, so consent captured on an AI call is just as complete as one from a form.

FAQ
Questions about texting consent and opt-outs
How does Autessa know who I can text?
It checks every send: a text is allowed if the person texted you within the last year or has an approved consent record, and never if they opted out.
Can an AI agent collect texting consent on a call?
Yes. The agent reads your consent wording and records the caller's agreement with the exact words, and can send a confirmation text.
What happens when someone texts STOP?
They are opted out right away, and texts to them are not sent from the inbox, agents or scripts. START opts them back in.
Can I import consent I already have?
You can add consent manually with the method and evidence. User-initiated consent is approved right away; web form, verbal, written and other consent goes to review.
