Some managers rate high and some rate low, and without calibration the difference follows people into promotions. Homebase gives HR one page to compare ratings across teams and adjust them before anyone reads their review.

How it works

How review calibration works in Homebase

  1. Move to calibration

    When manager reviews are in, HR moves the cycle to calibration.

  2. See the distribution

    A chart shows how ratings spread across the scale, for everyone or one department.

  3. Adjust where needed

    Beside each manager rating, HR sets the calibrated rating, or leaves it the same as the manager’s, and adds a note.

  4. Release

    Back on the cycle, release finished reviews. People see the calibrated rating.

Questions about review calibration

What is performance calibration?

It is comparing ratings across teams and adjusting them so the same rating means the same thing everywhere. Homebase does it on one page per cycle.

Is calibration required?

No. Leave the calibration date empty and reviews are ready to release as soon as the manager submits.

Can executives change ratings?

No. Executives can look at the calibration page; HR makes the changes.

Does calibration show salaries?

No. Calibration shows ratings and counts only, never pay.
