Bring your own Twilio account

Autessa Phone & Texting can use the numbers in your own Twilio account. Connect the account once, pick the numbers to link, and they work in Autessa for calls, texts and AI voice agents, while the numbers stay in your account.

The problem it solves

You already have numbers, a carrier relationship and a texting registration

Many teams already run their phone numbers in Twilio, often with an approved texting registration. Moving them is slow and risky. Linking the account lets those numbers use the Autessa browser phone, call flows and AI agents without changing who owns them.

What you get

  • Enter your Account SID, API Key SID, API Key secret and Auth Token. All four values are encrypted before they are stored.
  • Pick which numbers to link, and choose per number whether Autessa should also handle calls.
  • Autessa warns you when a number currently points to another app, a TwiML app or a Messaging Service override, before anything changes.
  • The page shows your Twilio account's own texting registration status next to the linked numbers.
  • Unlinking restores the number's previous Twilio settings and never deletes the number.
  • Inbound calls and texts from your account are verified by Twilio's signature, which is why the Auth Token is required.

How it works

How does bring your own twilio account work?

  1. Open Your Twilio account

In Texting setup, a company admin opens Your Twilio account and chooses Connect.

  2. Enter your credentials

Paste the Account SID, API Key SID and secret, and Auth Token. They are encrypted before they are saved.

  3. Link numbers

Pick the numbers to use in Autessa and turn on Enable calls for any that should ring in Autessa too. Read any warning about a number's current settings.

  4. Set who answers

Each linked number gets a number page like any other: call flow, AI agent, texting and automations.

  5. Unlink any time

Unlink a number to give it back to its previous Twilio settings, or update or disconnect the account's credentials.

FAQ

Questions about bring your own twilio account

Can I use my existing Twilio numbers with Autessa?

Yes. Connect your Twilio account under Texting setup, pick the numbers to link, and they work in Autessa for calls, texts and AI agents.

Are my Twilio credentials safe?

They are encrypted before they are stored. Autessa needs the Auth Token to verify that inbound calls and texts really come from your Twilio account.

What happens to a number if I unlink it?

It goes back to the settings it had before you linked it. Unlinking never deletes a number from your Twilio account.

Do I need to register for texting again?

Not necessarily. The page shows your Twilio account's own texting registration status, and linked numbers use it.

Try bring your own twilio account on your own number

Link your own Twilio account and use its numbers in Autessa for calls, texts and AI agents, with your credentials encrypted and your settings restored if you unlink.
