Change the destination after printing

Yes, you can change where an Autessa QR code points after it is printed. Edit the destination on the code’s page and save: the printed code keeps working and the very next scan lands on the new page, with no reprint and no new artwork.

The problem

Reprinting is the expensive part of a QR code

Menus change with the season, events move, links break and campaigns end. With a static code, each of those means new stickers, new packaging and new signs. With an editable QR code, the print stays put and only the destination moves, so the same table tent can carry the winter menu, the spring menu and the summer menu.

FROM THE PRINT SHOP

Before an event ends, point the code at a thank-you or “see you next year” page instead of letting it go to an empty agenda.

What you get

  • The destination is a single field on the code’s page, under Destination and tracking.
  • Saving takes effect on the next scan: there is no propagation delay to wait for.
  • The encoded short link never changes, so every copy already printed keeps working.
  • If campaign tracking is on, the “Scanners land on” line shows the exact final URL, tags included, before you save.
  • Scan history stays with the code across destination changes, so you keep one continuous record.
  • Editors, Managers, Admins, the owner and company admins can change a destination; Viewers cannot.

How it works

How does change the destination after printing work?

  1. Open the code

Pick it from your QR Codes list. Shared codes are under Shared with me.

  2. Edit Destination and tracking

Replace the destination. The hint reads: change this anytime; the printed code keeps working; scans just start landing here.

  3. Check where scanners will land

With campaign tracking on, the preview shows the destination with utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign added.

  4. Save

The next scan of any printed copy opens the new page and is counted on the same code.

FAQ

Questions about change the destination after printing

How quickly does a destination change take effect?

Immediately. The redirect reads the current destination on every scan, so the next scan after you save goes to the new page.

Will my old scan data be lost when I change the destination?

No. Scans belong to the code, not the destination, so totals, the daily chart and the scan log carry on uninterrupted.

Can I change the destination from a script?

Yes. autessa qr-codes update with a new destinationUrl does exactly what saving in the web app does.

Can a teammate change the destination without being able to delete the code?

Yes. Share the code with them as Editor or Manager. Editors can change the destination, design and tracking; only Admins, the owner and company admins can delete it.
