Nothing lingers
Autessa Redact keeps nothing it does not need. The moment a redacted copy is saved to Drive, the original and every working copy are deleted from Redact. A file you never finish is cleared automatically after 24 hours, and Discard deletes a file immediately.
The problem
The unredacted original nobody remembers to delete
Redaction tools often keep the sensitive original next to the clean copy, sometimes for good, which turns a privacy task into a new risk. Redact is designed so the redacted copy in Drive is the only one left.
- After saving, the original and all working copies are deleted.
- The burn dialog says so before you confirm.
- Unfinished files are deleted after 24 hours of inactivity and show as Expired.
- Discard deletes a file and every mark on it at once.
- An upload that never finishes is cleaned up too.
- Uploads go straight to storage over a short-lived signed link.

Questions about nothing lingers
Does Autessa keep my unredacted original?
No. It is deleted as soon as the redacted copy is saved, or after 24 hours if you never finish, or immediately if you discard it.
What happens to the original after burning?
It is deleted, so no unredacted copy lingers in Autessa. If you will need the original later, keep it where it belongs before you redact.
How long can I leave a file half done?
Up to 24 hours of inactivity. After that it is cleared and shows as Expired.
