Document redaction tools →
- Extract Text returns full text and per-page layout for PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, CSV, XLSX, EML, MSG and images, reading scanned pages with vision.
- Detect Patterns has presets for SSN, Luhn-checked credit cards, US driver’s licenses, bank routing and account numbers, phone, email and GPS coordinates.
- Custom detectors take a regex, flags, required nearby keywords, a code label and an optional Luhn check, and can match the file name.
Redaction decision cache →
- Look up a document’s prior decisions by its SHA-256 content hash.
- A hit returns the stored classifications and redactions, the record version, provenance and how often it has been reused.
- Store decisions as JSON the caller defines; the cache returns them unchanged.
Bulk document intake →
- Expands a .zip into rows of a table you choose, streaming each entry rather than loading the archive at once.
- Maps the stored file, name, path, content hash, size and type to columns, plus fixed values on every row.
- .eml entries are expanded so their attachments become their own rows, linked to the parent email.

Questions about automate redaction
Is there a redaction API?
Yes. The document tools (Extract Text, Detect Patterns, Locate Spans, Burn Redactions) can be chained in a pipeline or script and run through Autessa’s API to redact documents automatically.
How does Autessa avoid redacting duplicates twice?
The decision cache stores decisions by content hash. An identical document later gets the stored redactions back instead of being analyzed again.
Can Autessa redact documents in bulk?
Yes. Bulk intake turns a .zip of documents into rows, and a pipeline built from the document tools redacts each one automatically.
