AI visibility tracking · Autessa Visibility
Visibility score, share of voice and position
Autessa Visibility scores every AI answer with five deterministic metrics: visibility, share of voice, average position, citation coverage and citation share. All of them are computed in the app from the answer text with whole-word matching, never by an AI, so the same answer always gets the same score.
The problem
Letting an AI grade AI answers is not measurement
Many tools ask a model whether a brand was mentioned or how prominently. That adds a second layer of randomness on top of answers that already vary. Visibility does the arithmetic itself: it finds your name and aliases in the text, counts which tracked brands appear before you, checks cited URLs against your domain and leaves out prompts that would inflate the result.
What you get
- Visibility: the share of answers that mention your brand or one of its aliases.
- Share of voice: your mentions divided by all mentions of tracked brands (you plus competitors) in the same answers.
- Average position: when mentioned, your order among the tracked brands named in the answer, where 1 means named first. Lower is better.
- Citation coverage: the share of answers whose cited sources include your domain. Citation share: your domain’s citations divided by all citations.
- Average Google rank: the average organic position of your domain where it appears in the top 10.
- Branded and head-to-head prompts are excluded from every metric, so visibility cannot be inflated.
- Sentiment (0 to 100) is the one metric scored by AI, and it is labeled as such.
How it works
How does visibility score, share of voice and position work?
Find the mention
The answer text is searched for your brand name and every alias as whole words. Brand names that are everyday words, like Make or Notion, only count with the exact casing you entered.
Rank it
Your position is 1 plus the number of tracked competitors named before your first mention.
Check citations
Each cited URL is compared with your domain, including subdomains, to decide whether you were cited.
Filter out inflating prompts
Checks whose prompt names you, or is a head-to-head “A vs B” prompt naming a tracked brand, are left out.
Aggregate
The remaining checks are rolled up per window, engine, topic and prompt into the numbers you see.

FAQ
Questions about visibility score, share of voice and position
What is an AI visibility score?
It is the share of AI answers that mention your brand for the prompts you track. In Autessa Visibility it counts your brand and its aliases as whole words and leaves out prompts that name you, so the score reflects whether engines recommend you on their own.
How is share of voice different from visibility?
Visibility asks “was I mentioned?”; share of voice asks “of all the tracked brands mentioned, how many mentions were mine?” You can have high visibility and low share of voice in answers that list many competitors.
Why does lower position mean better?
Position 1 means you were the first tracked brand named in the answer. Buyers read top to bottom, so being named first matters.
Does an AI decide whether I was mentioned?
No. Mentions, position, citations and Google rank are computed in the app. Only sentiment and written recommendations use AI.
