The problem

Revenue and cash are not the same thing

A startup that counts revenue when cash lands sees lumpy months and cannot tell who is late. Accrual invoicing records revenue in the month it is earned and keeps a running list of who owes what, so a slow-paying customer is a visible number, not a surprise.

What you get

  • New invoice: customer, invoice number, issue date, due date, amount and the invoice PDF you sent.
  • Issuing records Accounts Receivable and Revenue; the customer’s payment is a separate event that clears what they owe.
  • Billed this month, outstanding and overdue at a glance.
  • Import invoices from CSV with a preview; invoices already here are skipped by invoice number.
  • Record a payment on an invoice, or apply a matching bank deposit from Match transfers.
  • Customers list what each has been billed and still owes.
  • Revenue billed up front for a service delivered over time can be spread with a revenue recognition schedule.

How it works

How does invoices and receivables work in Autessa Accounting?

  1. Issue or import

Create an invoice, or import a CSV from your invoicing tool. Revenue and receivable are recorded.

  2. Customer pays

The deposit arrives from Mercury or a statement.

  3. Apply the deposit

Match transfers proposes deposits that look like a customer paying an open invoice; you confirm each one.

  4. Track the rest

A/R aging shows who still owes you and how overdue they are.

FAQ

Questions about invoices and receivables

How do customer invoices work in Autessa Accounting?

Accounting records the invoices you issue, with the PDF you sent, and tracks what each customer owes. Import them from your billing tool or enter them directly.

Can I import invoices?

Yes, from a CSV. Accounting previews the rows and skips any invoice number that is already here.

Why does revenue appear in a month with no cash?

Because revenue is recorded when the invoice is issued. The customer’s payment later clears the receivable.
