Journal entries
Autessa Accounting supports manual journal entries for accruals, corrections and owner contributions. Running totals show the entry balancing as you type, each line can carry a department, project and memo, and the entry posts only when debits equal credits and only to leaf accounts.
The problem
Some entries never come from a bank
Accrued contractor hours, a founder’s contribution or a correction from your accountant have no transaction behind them. A journal entry screen that refuses to post an unbalanced entry keeps those adjustments as trustworthy as everything else.
What you get
- Date, memo and as many lines as you need, each a debit or a credit.
- Per-line account, amount, department, project and memo.
- Live debit and credit totals and the difference while you type.
- Posts only when balanced with at least two lines, and only to leaf (postable) accounts.
- Posted entries appear on the Ledger with everything else.
- Use recurring entries for the same journal entry on a schedule.

FAQ
Questions about journal entries
Can I record accruals?
Yes. Enter an accrual as a journal entry, or make it a recurring entry that posts every month.
What stops an unbalanced entry?
The entry posts only when debits equal credits. The running totals show the difference until it is zero.
How do I record a founder’s investment?
As a journal entry to Contributed Capital, or in Match transfers, where a deposit can be posted as owner investment rather than revenue.
