Projects and job costing
Autessa Accounting includes projects for job costing: tag spending and revenue to a job and see whether it made money. Profit is revenue booked to the project minus the costs booked to it, read from posted entries.
The problem
Departments say which team; projects say which job
A pilot for one customer, a grant study or a retail rollout cuts across teams. Tagging spend and revenue to a project answers “did this job make money?” without a separate spreadsheet.
What you get
- Projects have a name, an optional customer, a status and optional dates.
- Statuses: Active (offered when coding), Completed (still offered, numbers stay in reports) and Archived (no longer offered for new work; history kept).
- Tag a project on a card (so every charge carries it), on a transaction, or on journal entry lines.
- Each project shows its revenue, costs and profit.

Yes. Projects tag spending and revenue to a job and show its profit as revenue minus costs.

A department answers which team spent it; a project answers which job it was for.
What happens to archived projects?
They are no longer offered for new work, and their history stays in reports.
