Mercury bank sync
Autessa Accounting integrates with Mercury: with a Mercury API token it syncs your accounts and card transactions every 15 minutes, writes the category and note you choose back to Mercury, issues and manages cards and pays bills. The token is kept only in Accounting’s Mercury tools; Accounting stores just its last four characters.
The problem
Bank feeds break, and tokens quietly expire
A bank connection that stops syncing means books that look current and are not. Mercury also deletes API tokens that go 45 days without use. Accounting syncs on a schedule, keeps the token in use, and tells administrators on Home before anything lapses.
What you get
- A step-by-step runbook for creating the Mercury token with exactly the permissions needed: Read, Cards, Transactions, Categories, Request send money and Attachments.
- Mercury refuses calls from outside its IP allowlist, so Accounting shows Autessa’s three addresses with copy buttons.
- Production or Sandbox: try everything with Mercury’s test data first.
- Accounting tests the token right away and shows which permissions work; write permissions show as “not yet known” until first used.
- Map each Mercury account to a ledger account: checking to Cash, the IO card to Credit Card Payable.
- The 15-minute sync keeps the token alive, and a weekly note write keeps write access active.
- Replace the token any time; Remove clears it from every tool, stops syncing and keeps everything already synced.
- If a category or note write-back fails, Transactions shows which changes did not reach Mercury.
How it works
How does mercury bank sync work in Autessa Accounting?
Create the token in Mercury
In Mercury Settings → Tokens, create a custom API token with the listed permissions and add Autessa’s IP addresses to its allowlist.
Paste it into Accounting
An administrator pastes it into Settings → Mercury connection (or step 1 of Getting started) and picks Production or Sandbox.
Map accounts
Tell Accounting which ledger account each Mercury account is, so transactions post to the right place.
Sync runs on its own
Every 15 minutes new transactions arrive in the review inbox; your approved coding is written back to Mercury on the next sync.

FAQ
Questions about mercury bank sync
How often does Autessa Accounting sync with Mercury?
Every 15 minutes. New transactions land in the review inbox, and the category and note you approve are written back to Mercury on the next sync.
Where is my Mercury token stored?
Only in Accounting’s Mercury tools, where it is used to call Mercury. Accounting keeps just the last four characters, who saved it and when. The token is never shown again, never logged and never kept in a table.
Will my Mercury token expire?
Mercury deletes tokens unused for 45 days. The 15-minute sync keeps it in use and a weekly write keeps write access active. If it is about to lapse or is rejected, Home tells administrators.
Where are receipts kept?
In Accounting, with the rest of your books. Categories and notes are written back to Mercury.
