The problem it solves

Pageviews say a page was opened, not that it was read

A long product page can get thousands of views while almost nobody reaches the part that matters. Scroll depth per page and section-level viewing time show which content actually holds attention, so you rewrite the right section instead of guessing.

What you get

  • Pages table: visitors, views and average maximum scroll depth, with a depth bar per page.
  • Sections seen: unique viewers per section, the page it lives on and the median time spent in view.
  • Links and buttons: navigation links, buttons and outbound links ranked by people who clicked.
  • Scroll depth averages each person’s deepest scroll on a page, so one long reader does not skew it.

How it works

How does content engagement and scroll depth work?

  1. Your pages report reading

As people scroll, the site sends scroll milestones and section views (with time in view) to PostHog.

  2. Pages are scored

For each page, Autessa Analytics takes every reader’s deepest scroll and averages it.

  3. Sections are ranked

Each section is ranked by unique viewers, with the median seconds it was on screen.

  4. Clicks close the loop

Links and buttons shows what people did next: which nav items, buttons and outbound links they chose.

Computed for you

Median, not average, time in view

Time in view uses the median, so a tab left open overnight does not make a section look riveting. The report shows the 30 pages with the most visitors, so it stays readable.
